Feng Shui

In Chinese the words Feng Shui literally means Wind and Water. The Chinese have long observed that some surroundings are better then others, and for centuries they have used geomancy to improve the quality of life.
Today, Feng Shui has evolved into a refined art used to enhance luck and well-being through the modifications of layout and orientation of work-places and homes and is gaining popularity in the West.
The aim of Feng Shui is a complete harmony and a deep sensitivity with the natural order. Many aspects of Feng Shui are based on intuition and commonsense.

Useful and Easy Feng Shui Tips

Feng Shui has many uses: it can help you create a happy and harmonious home, an efficient, productive office, a beautiful garden or a quick house sale. It's all in your hands! Start improving your life with some easy and practical feng shui tips: from feng shui garden tips to feng shui for real estate; from feng shui health tips to better love life feng shui tips.

Feng Shui for Your Home

  1. Clear Out Your Clutter, get rid of everything you do not love in your house. Clutter Clearing is a time-and energy-consuming process that will feel like therapy, but it will help you "lighten up the load," so to speak. Do not skip this step, as it is an essential one in creating harmonious house feng shui energy.
  2. Have Good Quality Air and Good Quality Light in your house. These two elements are essential for good feng shui energy (called Chi) in your home. Open the windows often, introduce feng shui air-purifying plants or use an air-purifier. Allow as much natural light as possible into your home, and consider using full-spectrum lights.
  3. Always Be Mindful of the Feel of Your Home and how its energy influences your well-being. Make a habit of paying close attention to the so-called feng shui "trinity" that is deeply connected to your health - your bedroom, your bathroom and your kitchen. Nothing is static in the world of energy, so be wise and keep your home healthy and happy.

Office and Business Feng Shui

1). Always sit with a solid wall behind your back to ensure that you have support in your life, never sit with a window behind you.
2) In the office always place the fax machine, telephone, and computers in the wealth area and future wealth area for more Businesses.
3) The arrangement of tables and chairs should be in a harmonious position so that chi is able to flow smoothly.
4) If you wish to be the leader in your industry, place a Dragon on the right hand side of your desk facing towards the window or the door. The Dragon can also look into your water fountain. A Dragon always chases after a pearl, thus the window; water fountain can signify the pearl
5) If you own a shop try and place the till in your wealth corner, even your petty cash tin.  Order books can also be placed here with Chinese coins held together with red ribbon.

DO’s and DON’T
Being stuck in an office can be the pits, but learn about the 13 do’s and taboos of feng shui office design and you can feel like you’re working in nature.

  • DO sit in the corner farthest from the entrance to the room to have a “command” position.
  • DON’T sit in line with the door, as you will be in the path of negative energy.
  • DO keep your back toward a corner or a wall for support. If a post protrudes from the corner or wall, correct it by covering it with a hanging plant’s draping foliage.
  • DO sit with a tall building behind you to provide the support of a “mountain” if your back is to a window.
  • DON’T face away from the door if you are conducting business from home. Business will symbolically come to you through the door, so don’t turn your back on it.
  • DON’T arrange your workspace so that you look straight out into a corridor or see the stairs, storage rooms, closets, elevators, escalators, or toilets.

  • DO put your computer in the North or West area of your office to enhance your creativity. Place the computer in the Southeast if you use it to generate income.
  • DO place an aquarium or tabletop fountain in the East, North, or Southeast. A small aquarium with black or blue fish in the North area of your desk or office will activate your business and career success. Guppies or a single arrowana are ideal for an aquarium made of glass and metal.
  • DO place a safe, which is usually constructed of metal, in either West or Northwest, which both represent the metal element. The safe symbolizes the prosperity and financial security of a business.
  • DO have a good balance of yin and yang when decorating your workspace. Balance light and dark colors, soft and hard surfaces, and smooth and rough textures in your choice of window treatments, furniture, and flooring.
  • DON’T have any mirrors in your office, as they can reflect negative energy from clients to other people in the room. You should always maintain control over the energy in your office.
  • DO treat the files in your office with respect. They represent your past, present, and future business.
  • DO keep the cords to your office equipment well hidden. This elimates clutter and allows for the free flow of chi.
